I may never see Outkast play in concert, but I’ve now come as close as is possible without Big Boi and Andre inhabiting the same stage at the same time. Sir Lucious Leftfoot, author of one of last year’s best hip hop albums, closed out SXSW’s best showcase with one of the best sets of the week. Best best best. I came in expecting a hit parade from Sir Lucious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty. We got that and so much more. Smiling and laughing, Big Boi started his set out with a slew of Outkast originals, from hits like “Rosa Parks” and “B.O.B.” to personal favorite “Skew It On The Bar-B.” He followed the Outkast superset with the highlights from his solo effort, bringing out a couple compatriots to help out on songs like “Follow Us” and “Shutterbug.”

Rapping, sweating, smiling, and dancing, Big Boi held court for an hour, ripping through smash after smash. When he popped on stage for an encore of “Tangerine,” my legs dipped into their final reserves, and I bounced my way across the SXSW finish line with a smile on my face.

song battle!!!

Two songs go in, one comes out. Pick a side.

Twin Shadow - Five Seconds
vs.
Grimes - Be A Body

Also, I have yet to pay this venue a visit, is it good spot? good people, good vibe, good atmosphere?
