Efterklang (noun)
    1. A weaker tone, which remains after a sound has ceased, and gradually fades away [via ordnet.dk and Google Translate]
    2. “The Danish word for remembrance and reverberation” [via 8,000 websites parroting Wikipedia]
    3. A ragtag assemblage of Danes (and Danish-Americans?) who tour the world, a random assortment of instruments in tow, and emit captivating sounds

Hot (adjective)
    1. Having a relatively high temperature
    2. The word my friend Jim most closely associates with a band whose lead singer a) plays the drums and b) is someone other than Phil Collins

Folktronica (noun)
    1. The sound resulting from a high-speed collision between an Apple MacBook and a hippie.
    2. A genre of music combining elements from such disparate sources as folk, jazz, classical, and IDM; first popularized in the early aughts by the likes of Four Tet, The Notwist, and Animal Collective

Premier (verb)
    1. To perform a work for the first time
    2. To practice a handful of “works in process” while on the first leg of your American tour, before hitting SXSW later this month

Loose Ends (noun)
    1. The title of one of the aforementioned “works in process”
    2. The place at which I nearly found myself upon hearing an Efterklang song take a suspiciously Coldplay turn (not to worry; it later took a U2 turn, which greatly improved my spirits)

Three (noun)
    1. The number of adult beverages consumed by your humble scribe throughout the course of tonight’s concert
    2. The minimum number of tambourines required to accompany the climax of “Cutting Ice to Snow,” said concert’s pre-encore closer (which unleashed a glorious torrent of giddiness upon the audience)

Six (noun)
    1. One less than the number of band members I was able to spot onstage at any given time
    2. Half the title of Efterklang’s finale “Chapter 6,” a haunting beauty of a song, complete with a chant-along portion that left the masses wading through their own private reverberations (sorry, efterklangs) as they sauntered off, blearily bewitched, into the crisp night air

--

Purchase (command)
1. Efterklang
a. Parades
b. Tripper

I’ve read the book ‘Dream Boogie’ the life and time of Sam Cooke’ If the movie is as good as the book, Sam Cooke will get the respect that he has been deserving of for many years.
