King Kahn & the Shrines are practiced showmen. Their Mess With Texas 3 performance at Waterloo Park left no doubt of this. It only took a song before Kahn and the Shrines’ guitarist and bassist jumped into the crowd. It only took a couple more before he invited the crowd to burn dollar bills as a prelude to “Welfare Bread.” Several foolhardy audience members did just this. They were rewarded by lots of continued theatrics, including many slides around the stage. The beauty of the set was that none of the performance seemed forced - it provided an ideal backdrop to the energetic garage rock they blasted across the Waterloo Park lawn. What a blast!

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words… smile I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.

By the way, I really liked the mp3 posted. Thanks.

WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE ! “WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE !  “Picture yourself coasting your bike past space funk palm trees, homeless harpists, vintage video arcades, electronic drum circles, and 60s psychedelic singers who’re waiting for the bus. Cosmogramma is kinda like that if someone suddenly tripped you just as you’re starting to enjoy the ride. But in a good way.””
