What a night of great rock and roll at the Roseland Theater.  The main event, Lacuna Coil, which means empty spiral, drew a packed house of cheering/rabid fans.  Lead vocalists, Christina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro, over a nonstop barrage of loud, wicked, gothic, alternative metal, tore into the mics as soon as they stepped on stage. As a longtime fan of their music, their energy on stage only intensified my appreciation. Check out their website, get their cd’s, and prepare for a live show full of passion and energy.

Los Angeles natives Dommin kicked off the night with a set of heavy, distortion filled tracks about broken love and angst. The band had roses tied to the microphone stands - appropriate symbols for the subject matter of their songs. Lead singer and frontman, Kristofer Dommin’s vocals were Dommin’s strongest suit, and their opening set ended well before I was ready.

Seventh Void darkened the mood further, pounding through a set of dark metal from their 2009 release, Heaven Is Gone. The heavy guitars of Kenny Hickey and Matt Brown, the low-down bass of Hank Hell, and the pounding drums of Johnny Kelly made it impossible not to nod my head.

Kill Hannah sporting lights on their guitars and glowing face paint (lead singer Matt Devine), added an electronic tint to the evening’s sound. The deep beats had the crowd jumping all over the place in no time, and whenever Devine dropped to his knees, the kids in the front row screamed with spastic delight. I wasn’t screaming, but I was plenty impressed by Kill Hannah’s sound and execution.

Wake Up The Sleepers was released on 09/29/09 and the proudest album of Kill Hannah’s career. Going back to the way things were when they were doing it themselves,m producing the album themselves and promoting the band after shows themselves, they return to that mentality and give fans what they are really looking for when it comes to their music and what to expect. The title, “Wake Up The Sleepers” is a call to the music industry as is is today, where people are caring less and only looking at the business side and forgetting what its all about; the music. This album is a fantastic mix of dance songs with heavier undertones and darker themes. The lyrics are more in depth and personal and Mat Devine’s vocals are on point all the way. This album is completely worth every penny. You may purchase the album at Killhannah.com, iTunes, and amazon.com.

Love these photos and review. So, these DJ sets are at 7:30? I don’t really get it. And are these gonna continue once the Whitney moves? And most importantly, where can I attend an “hour-long clinic on shaking ass?”
