Ever seen a zombie reanimate on the dance floor? Love in Stockholm’s Halloween show at the Precinct was a funk-fueled night of the living dead. Love in Stockholm, masquerading as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band—complete with costumes—was in full force Saturday. Big British shoes to fill you say? Yeah. And Love in Stockholm played the shit out of Sgt. Pepper’s, leaving the crowd screaming, “It’s Alive!!!” The seven-piece ensemble played a high-energy set with their distinct rock-funk sound. Completing the Halloween tribute show was Turkuaz performing as the Talking Heads and Hey Mama as Led Zeppelin.

Just as the famous alter-ego group gave the Beatles the freedom to experiment, Love in Stockholm’s masquerade reinvented Sgt. Pepper’s with that unique soulful edge that Boston seems to have an ever-increasing demand for. Bumping elbows with zombies and X-Men to some kickass rock-funk. Yeah, that’s my kind of Halloween.

I’d like to clarify that for this show they cut off the back half of Neumo’s floor with a curtain and had the upstairs bar closed. It made Neumo’s obviously seem much smaller than it is. Unfortunately, now having seen Neumo’s fully open at another show I can say that this show was very empty. Still White Denim and Brazos rocked.

I agree, it’s very good. Way to deflate their balloon.

Love the photos. And that “Walkabout” song is the drugs.
