Not long into Saturday night, and directly after I saw the best show of the weekend, I found myself at another one of the best. It only took about 15 seconds of the show before my jaw dropped and I was staring up at Robyn asking myself, “Are you kidding me? Did she really just do that?!” Seriously, that girl can mooooove. In fact, I’m willing to say she can move better than anyone I’ve ever seen – and I’m saying ‘move’ because it was more than just dancing. Robyn’s body was completely on-beat with the music, mimicking every bit of the rhythm played - her choreography was something I didn’t know a human body could achieve. It was unbelievable.
Pop music is not really my thing, but when somebody does it well, I’m always intrigued. Now that I’ve seen and heard songs like Robyn’s “We Dance To The Beat,” “Call Your Girlfriend,” and “Dancing On My Own,” I’m trying to figure out where the hell I’ve been while she was unleashing this music on the world. Obviously the crowd that was present at her show was way ahead of me, as they sung along to all of her songs, and danced as much as they could in the crammed space they had to work with.
Onstage, Robyn looked such a tiny thing, but the way she channeled her music through her body was gigantic. She was such a dynamo, and easily won my prize for best dancer of the weekend.
