The Note is the new “It” bar of West Chester, PA. Started by skater-turned-Hollywood star Bam Margera, the two-story bar resembles Philly’s legendary Trocadero on the inside, complete with a balcony and a spacious stage. But even though The Note is still in its infancy, it has played host to some amazing musical acts such as The Airborne Toxic Event and it now welcomed Athens, Georgia’s very own alt-country sweethearts, The Whigs.

The Whigs are a trio of Lolita-esque gentleman (they barely look a day over 15) who have taken college radio by storm. Their music calls to mind a mixture of modern day Pet Sounds, Guided by Voices, and My Morning Jacket. Front man Parker Gispert is an expert in the art of stage thespianism, and works the crowd like he would his guitar strings.

The Whigs are a band that people can dance to. Immediately after they took the stage at the Note, the entire audience found that legendary “pocket” musicians always refer to, that moment in time when everybody’s feet are stomping in unison. Drummer Julian Dorio rocked the night with his roaring punk-induced beats, and bassist Tim Deaux’s soaring rifts lifted the energy of the entire venue to new heights. Gispert’s twangy voice melted out of the speakers and rocketed into the ears of his new-found fans.

The Whigs played two of their new hits, including “Already Young” and “Like a Vibration” as well as some of their older tunes. The Note became a bit of a hootenanny that night, and left the audience wondering if they were down South or still in Pennsylvania.

Fun photos! I can not believe my hometown has a reputable music venue - nor can I believe that Bam has done some good for the community.

Kelli Shaefer’s songs get stuck in my head non-stop. Every other day I find myself waking up with one in there. And that’s a good thing, she’s a talent!

nice pics Chris. Don’t you love it when the artist brings some cool light. It’s a bunch of low hanging fruit after that.

Check out a sick interview back\slash Magazine did with LMFAO about how they blew up in a down economy, the struggles of entrepreneurship, and getting high.
