Chiddy Bang - “The Swelly Express Mixtape” - Buy It

text: Chris Barth

Ah, the arrogance of youth. But what’s this? The arrogance is supported by fly beats and a smooth flow? Producer Xaphoon Jones stars here, crafting the original beats that propel this mixtape forward. The Chiddy kids use them well - if this is the future of indie rap, count me in.

i know colin mentioned this in an earlier post - but i really love hip-hop’s recent usage/acknowledgment of the indie rock scene. the results are fantastic. this record will be in my top ten of the year for sure.

It’s nice to see artists using the entire sandbox to play in instead of just sticking to their corner.

Kelli Shaefer’s songs get stuck in my head non-stop. Every other day I find myself waking up with one in there. And that’s a good thing, she’s a talent!

nice pics Chris. Don’t you love it when the artist brings some cool light. It’s a bunch of low hanging fruit after that.

Check out a sick interview back\slash Magazine did with LMFAO about how they blew up in a down economy, the struggles of entrepreneurship, and getting high.
