Like many debuts, Gorilla Manor is unencumbered by expectation. Unlike most, the bloodletting of tempos and instrumentation manages to coalesce here, largely because the rich, warm harmonies of the band’s three vocalists permeate every pockmark scratched out in the drunken knife fight between the band’s angular guitars and relentless drums.
