Ryan Adam & The Cardinals - “Cardinology” - Buy It

text: tim harvey

“Born Into a Light” and “Go Easy” are two of Adams’ strongest tracks to date, returning to the alt-country sound that served him so well on 2005’s masterful Jacksonville City Nights. Though not as cohesive as Jacksonville, Cardinology gets under your skin, and the superb Cardinals continue provide a textured backdrop for Adams’ mournful tenor. “Funny how I still hear that voice...”—from “Go Easy”.

Diggin’ this LP, Ryan Adams finally seems able to be able to use The Cardinals with out turning every song into a jam. It’s no ‘Easy Tiger’ but a solid addition to the Ryan Adams discography.
