Wale - “Attention Deficit” - Borrow It

text: Chris Barth

If Kid Cudi was too laid back on his debut, Wale makes the opposite mistake. His verses are disjointed, forced, and scattered. Somehow, Wale manages to overshadow himself – his mixtapes just loom too large. With few exceptions, the special tracks are nothing new and the new tracks are nothing special.

Reminds us of: Black Thought | Common | Expecting an iPod and getting a Zune

agree. back to the feature is a superior record.

but it’s really not that good (Back to the Feature). it was a huge let down after Mixtape About Nothing.

    I’d agree with that trajectory:
Mixtape About Nothing > Back To The Feature > Attention Deficit

i think your analysis chris, is on point. but what does that say about wale, or the record business in general, that two mixtapes are markedly better than a studio release?

You can’t make mistakes making music. You can only make mistakes listening to it.

Kelli Shaefer’s songs get stuck in my head non-stop. Every other day I find myself waking up with one in there. And that’s a good thing, she’s a talent!

nice pics Chris. Don’t you love it when the artist brings some cool light. It’s a bunch of low hanging fruit after that.
