35 seasons, 35 years of happy music fans. Is there a better show to stumble upon late night? Especially if you can find it in HD. The show has too many highlights to name, so let’s just get into the meat and potatoes and look at who is going to be on this godsend of a program.
Here is the broadcast schedule for Austin City Limits’ 35th Season:
October 3: Dave Matthews Band
October 10: Ben Harper and Relentless7
October 17: Kenny Chesney
October 24: Andrew Bird / St. Vincent
October 31: M. Ward / Okkervil River
November 7: Elvis Costello / Band of Heathens
November 14: Willie Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel
November 21: Pearl Jam
January 9, 2010: Allen Toussaint
January 16, 2010: Mos Def / K’Naan
January 23, 2010: TBD / Heartless Bastards
January 30, 2010: Steve Earle / Kris Kristofferson
February 6, 2010: Them Crooked Vultures
February 13, 2010: Madeleine Peyroux / Esperanza Spaldin
Some quick notes. 1) Let’s all skip Kenny Chesney. 2) Allen Toussaint is going to be great. I will co-sign as I saw him at Bonnaroo. If you don’t know him, check him out. He’s on a New Orleans funk/soul/r&b kick. 3) Mos Def/K’naan are first hip hop artists to ever appear on the show. What took so long?
he is amazing bro his style can not be touched....some people dont know what he is talking about caz u dont do what he does he is sickkk bra

Ugh. Paste’s profile of Free Energy made me kind of hate them. So does your review. It’s this unctuous defense of good-time rock-and-roll ("we’re just here to party, and we’re awesome!") that seems more self-serving than fun-loving.

that inescapable feeling you are referring to, is that like when you hear something and you could have sworn you heard it before because of the nostalgic catchy quality? or is is like when you’ve heard a band exactly like said band?
great post by the way!

This comment stream is so meta. Great review Kelly.

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words…
I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.

Me and about a million other people will be watching Kenny Chesney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will spip all the rest except Willie and Dave Matthews
Well then enjoy your Kenny Chesney.
I too will only be watching Kenny Chesney, Dave Matthews and Willie Nelson. I have no need for the likes of Andrew Bird, M. Ward, St, Vincent, Elvis Costello, Mos Def, or any of them other hacks!
just because Elvis Costello is first half hour, do NOT miss the second half hour on NOV 7… The Band of Heathens are incredible. Even Josh and Trease will love them.
How do I get advanced tickets to a show?
