Barbara’s cover of Kid Cudi’s ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ (mp3)

text: Colin McLaughlin

You know how sometimes you hear a song at your friend’s house and it’s so good that it causes you to stop for a second, look at them and say, “where the fuck did you get that?” Followed by, “where can I get that?” That’s the feeling I just got when I stumbled across this cover of Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” done up by some LA fusion band called Barbara. And I’m aware, me discovering this doesn’t fall into the scenario I just outlined, but for some reason, the feeling that washed over me matched it exactly. Which basically is an ADD kid’s convoluted way of telling you that I really like this and I want to you to have it too. I feel pretty comfortable promising you that you’ll like it.

I am 99.99% sure the guitar part for this is from an Iron & Wine song…

Very cool blog, thanks! Keep up the great work and have fun checking out one of my favorite artists: Catya Maré...you won´t regret it!
She recently won both the Billboard World Song Contest and Hollywood Music in Media Award and released her third album last week....

I’m not holding any grudges against this cover, but if you want an “at a friend’s house” kind of feeling, listen to Lissie’s cover ;)
