Blakroc on Letterman: “Ain’t Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo)”

text: Colin McLaughlin

Last night, The Black Keys, Jim Jones, and Mos Def united as Blakroc and put the final touches on Letterman with their song, “Ain’t Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo).” Mos sings, The Black Keys wail and Jim Jones manages to not make me hate him for the entire 4:19 seconds. And Mos’ mic is a serious dose of cool, every karaoke club needs that bad boy on staff for the hip kids that know how to rock it. Final thought: when are all of the artists on the record going to announce a tour? Think about it, Black Keys, Mos Def, RZA, Ludacris, Raekwon, NOE, etc. I want to go! Make it happen Damon Dash.

this was a tune that annoyed me on the recorded version, but man it bangs hard live.

love how Mos offers “hand motions” through Jones’ verse
