ceo & jj Team Up to Cover Blondie’s “Maria”

text: Danielle Fowler

Unless you’re a diehard Blondie fan, you probably could’ve listened to this cover by ceo and jj and known none the wiser. Twisting “Maria” into “Ave Maria” with tons of spacious echo and beach samples, ceo pulls all the rock out of the original to pay tribute to tennis star Maria Sharapova. For comparison’s sake, here’s the original plus a video celebrating Maria Sharapova with a portion of the track:

“This is the MOST GORGEOUS thing” - Maria but not as you remember. Such a nice change to have a song totally ReImagined unlike the Rap-Copies, what an artist

Two songs go in, one comes out. Pick a side.

“Mindkilla” is awesome. I’ve got this music video last week and really impressed through watching every performance particularly “Glass Jar”. Thanks dude. :)
