Essential Listening: The Phenomenal Handclap Band’s “Baby”

text: Colin McLaughlin

It’s November and that means we are getting closer to all those year end best of lists. But I thought while we are waiting, why not post some of the best songs of the year every once in awhile to remind you of how fine they are. First up on my list is The Phenomenal Handclap Band’s “Baby.” It’s a sweet, soul track that maintains that everything is possible with a good woman on your arm. You might swear this is an old ‘70s cut that some crate digger must have found for us, but it’s not.  It’s new and it’s the best way to start your morning. Please play loud and fear not, your co-workers, soulmates, roommates or anyone else in your general vicinity will not complain. In fact, you may get some points thrown your way.

If you like what you hear, the self titled record is out now.

Seems like a good song to play for your lover

But will they listen to the words and know its for them?

They might not hear all the words at first, but they will know it’s for them and appreciate it

Chopin and Òlafur Arnalds aren’t even really worth a comparison. Their music is nothing alike.

There was definitely a guy surfing in a wheelchair. I tried to capture it with my camera, but it was a total blur. He came over the barricade 3 times. The first time, he came over AFTER his wheelchair.
