Freddie Gibbs Recording Mixtape in 24 Hours

text: Danielle Fowler

Pairing up with DJ Statik Selektah and a few mystery guests, Indiana native Freddie Gibbs is recording a mixtape within 24 hours starting tonight. It’s called Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away, and the quick-turnaround tracks will stream live on XXL Magazine’s website at 6 p.m. EST and will be available for download on iTunes on the 24th.

Initially Gibbs was slated to release a mixtape called Cold Day in Hell last week, but seeing as the press has been dead quiet on the matter, it’s a welcome surprise that Statik offered his home studio in Brooklyn as a venue to help get new rhymes out. The DJ and producer has plenty of experience from recording within a day with rappers Saigon and Freeway, so it bodes well that the process will go off without a hitch. For an idea on what Gibbs and Statik sound like together, stream “Crushin’ Feelins” above and snag it below.

“Mindkilla” is awesome. I’ve got this music video last week and really impressed through watching every performance particularly “Glass Jar”. Thanks dude. :)
