Fucked Up Snag Polaris Prize

text: Colin McLaughlin

Pitchfork is reporting that Pink Eyes and the rest of the Fucked Up crew have won the Polaris Music Prize and the $20,000 that comes with it. The band wasn’t expect a W, they were just happy about the free Ipod, and from what I’ve been reading it has apparently shocked a few around the web, as well. Did they not listen to The Chemistry of Common Life (the album they won for)? That record is like a hardcore epiphany, “What? We can also be melodic?” Congrats, guys!

Also, in case you were wondering, they were up against Metric, Great Lakes Swimmers, and Malajube.

I’ve read the book ‘Dream Boogie’ the life and time of Sam Cooke’ If the movie is as good as the book, Sam Cooke will get the respect that he has been deserving of for many years.
