You better have your technique down and your heart up on your sleeve to go after Jeff Buckley’s “Lover, You Should Have Come Over.” It’s a song that defines what it means to ache and to long for something that is outside of your grasp and it does this without falling victim to the cliches that most artists pull out of those themes. It’s a vocal test and to do it correctly, you have to be able to scrape the bottom and keep pushing yourself until you are out there, naked and exposed. The give is what makes it beautiful and after seeing Holly Miranda open a show a couple of weeks ago, I had no doubt in my mind that she could handle it. I wasn’t wrong. I highly recommend you watch this and learn about this girl. She’s on her way in.

Ugh. Paste’s profile of Free Energy made me kind of hate them. So does your review. It’s this unctuous defense of good-time rock-and-roll ("we’re just here to party, and we’re awesome!") that seems more self-serving than fun-loving.

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words… 
I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.

Quite remarkable, her voice is so interesting. I thought she sounded pretty different than she does live.
