Modest Mouse’s new vid for “The Whale Song”

text: Colin McLaughlin

Portland based Bent Image Lab and Portland greats Modest Mouse have cooked up a video for “The Whale Song” and it’s a wonderful trip into what we can now do with computers/technology. Visual junkies will be delighted from the weird gyroscopic instrument that Isaac wears, to the washed out world in which he walks around, to the maritime through mushrooms theme that runs throughout the video. And in the end, you might just like it because it lets you know that someone is still trying out there. Enjoy.

UPDATE: apparently it won’t let me embed it so check it out at Pitchfork here

Modest Mouse to your liking? You'll sweat:

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words… smile I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.

By the way, I really liked the mp3 posted. Thanks.

WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE ! “WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE !  “Picture yourself coasting your bike past space funk palm trees, homeless harpists, vintage video arcades, electronic drum circles, and 60s psychedelic singers who’re waiting for the bus. Cosmogramma is kinda like that if someone suddenly tripped you just as you’re starting to enjoy the ride. But in a good way.””
