Embryonic is out, Conan’s a living legend, and the Flaming Lips brought the gong banging, fuzzed out vocal having, spaced out extravaganza known as “Watching The Planets” to The Tonight Show last night to teach us the art of the freak out. Thanks guys. This performance is so good and so energetic that might you wonder if you have tuned into an attempt to cement icon status outside of the underground hero medals they already proudly wear. They continue to amaze and deserve the best in show ribbon I’m awarding them right now. Watch this and tell me you don’t want to be that guy smashing the shit out of the gong.

I’d like to clarify that for this show they cut off the back half of Neumo’s floor with a curtain and had the upstairs bar closed. It made Neumo’s obviously seem much smaller than it is. Unfortunately, now having seen Neumo’s fully open at another show I can say that this show was very empty. Still White Denim and Brazos rocked.
