Nana Grizol play the pink couch

text: Matt Carr

Here’s an infectious and stripped down version of “Blackbox” from the Athens, Georgia band Nana Grizol. Led by Theo Hilton, the band has at times incorporated members of Elf Power, Neutral Milk Hotel, and solo artist Madeline Adams (the girl in the green sweatshirt). The video is part of a project started by Brooklyn-based drummer Dave Garwacke for his site If You Make It. Garwacke, who normally records bands in concert, started inviting bands to play in his living room for the Pink Couch Sessions last year and eventually took to recording on the road (without the pink couch).

I’ve read the book ‘Dream Boogie’ the life and time of Sam Cooke’ If the movie is as good as the book, Sam Cooke will get the respect that he has been deserving of for many years.

My copy of the new Springsteen book arrived, and I can confirm it is an ESSENTIAL keepsake for anyone who cares not only about Bruce in 1978, but also gaining insight into perhaps the single greatest rock and roll tour of all time. The layout, photos and vignettes are amazing, including a surprising memory involving Adele and Douglas Springsteen. You’ll want The Light in Darkness for Xmas 2009.
