New Pretty Lights track: “Sunday School”

text: Colin McLaughlin

Pretty Lights (aka Derek Vincent Smith) dropped a new album earlier this year called Passing By Behind Your Eyes. Like Pretty Lights’ other albums, it’s a mix of electro, old soul grooves and vintage hip hop cut up into something that can turn a party out just as well as it can resonate in your headphones. Here’s a song from it called “Sunday School,” featuring a killer sample of Biggie defiantly screaming out, “fuck em, I didn’t want to go to heaven anyway.” It’s a good one, much like the band. If you want the whole album, head on down to Pretty Lights’ website here and download this or any of the other two albums. Huge recommendation for Filling Up The City Skies. Also, since they are a beast on tour, check out the tour dates below and see if they are coming to your neck of the woods.

The was that Pretty Lights captivates there crowd is simply amazing. They had frat boys all the to Hippies with dreads to the floor so lost in there music is was fantastic. It was the first concert I have been to where EVERY single person was 100% groovin to the music. Check out www.BeatLaboratory.com. We did a post over last nights show with some pretty cool pics and an awesome interview of Pretty Lights.

I’ve read the book ‘Dream Boogie’ the life and time of Sam Cooke’ If the movie is as good as the book, Sam Cooke will get the respect that he has been deserving of for many years.
