New video: Passion Pit - The Reeling

text: Matt Carr

The Cambridge, Massachusetts synth-pop quintet Passion Pit is gearing up for the release of its first full-length album (Manners, due out 5/19) with a video for its first single—"The Reeling.” The sound is a lot bigger than anything off of last year’s Chunk of Change EP. For “The Reeling,” Michael Angelakos brought in a professional children’s choir to help him sing the chorus. You can watch the making of the song here. But for now, enjoy the video.

you’re right - the sound is a lot fuller than their ep. i’m not sure i like that yet. the video is really great, but seems a bit dark for their music.

Yea, the sound definitely takes some getting used to. I’m hoping Manners has a few lighter gems like “Smile Upon Me.”

I’m glad their success now means they have a music video budget! I wish they would have incorporated the adorable children’s choir in this music video, but it’s good nonetheless.

Passion Pit also has live performances up from Josh Schwartz’s new web- series Rockville CA (www.rockvilleca.com).
