New Yellow Submarine movie to take flight

text: Colin McLaughlin

Disney must be trying to win me over because final talks are underway for a new Yellow Submarine movie. You remember, that classic cartoon Beatles extravaganza that featured the Liverpool 4 battling the Blue Meanies over the fate of the outrageously psychedelic Pepperland.  Yes, that one.  Well, Robert Zemeckis, the man behind Back To The Future, Forrest Gump, The Polar Express and Beowulf, is said to be helming this new take and will be doing it in the 3D, stop motion style of the last two films I mentioned.  I, for one, want to see this baby up on an IMAX screen with the Beatles blasting into the room from all sides and huge crowd sing-a-longs a la Rocky Horror Picture Show

Another element to maybe get excited about is that there is also talk of making this into a live stage show. Doesn’t seem like much of a stretch to me.  If they can bring Monty Python and The Holy Grail to the stage, then why not Yellow Submarine? People always need reasons to re-visit the Beatles, even if you are feeling like you are in Beatles overload right now, what with the remastered mono albums and the Beatles version of Rock Band and all.  But, if you’re pumped, buckle up and look forward to 2012, because that’s when this is all supposed to go down...if the world doesn’t end (pshaw conspiracy theorists).

Kelli Shaefer’s songs get stuck in my head non-stop. Every other day I find myself waking up with one in there. And that’s a good thing, she’s a talent!

nice pics Chris. Don’t you love it when the artist brings some cool light. It’s a bunch of low hanging fruit after that.

Check out a sick interview back\slash Magazine did with LMFAO about how they blew up in a down economy, the struggles of entrepreneurship, and getting high.
