Oasis offered refund to concert, then mocked those who took it

text: matt carr

After offering a refund to fans at a recent Manchester concert that experienced technical difficulties for half an hour, Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher is now mocking the 20,000 who took the band up on its offer. “So you were genuinely disappointed?” he wrote on his blog. “There wasn’t a 20,000 gap in the crowd… cheeky cunts.” The Guardian reports that the band has to cough up £1m. That’s not too bad. It would have cost Oasis £3m if all 70,000 fans had asked for their money back. Check out freak-folk singer and songwriter Devendra Banhart’s cover of the volatile brothers’ classic “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”

oasis word means nothing they have not refunded tickets got a letter with no return address saying that they would not be refunding our tickets despite providing the tickets and everything they had asked for, they are money grabbing bottle merchants who cannot back there word up when it means parting with money!!!!

Ugh. Paste’s profile of Free Energy made me kind of hate them. So does your review. It’s this unctuous defense of good-time rock-and-roll ("we’re just here to party, and we’re awesome!") that seems more self-serving than fun-loving.

that inescapable feeling you are referring to, is that like when you hear something and you could have sworn you heard it before because of the nostalgic catchy quality? or is is like when you’ve heard a band exactly like said band?

great post by the way!

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words… smile I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.
