M. Ward, Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, and Jim James of My Morning Jacket are set to release an album with producer Mike Mogis on September 22nd. The four musicians are calling themselves the Monsters of Folk, reprising the name they used for an all-star tour back in 2004. How psyched am I? Very. Take a listen to a performance of Oberst’s “At The Bottom of Everything” with Ward and James in tow. James later appeared on the official recording for the 2005 record I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning.

1. “Dear God (sincerely M.O.F.)”
2. “Say Please”

Tom Petty is the reason I got into music. Looking forward to this, especially that “Friend of the Devil” cover

Don’t listen to Jarrod. Buy it! Every track is a gem, a bargain for $9.99 and you are supporting an independent artist.

When will M Ward stop touring with the less-talented?
I was just finished celebrating his sloughing off what’s-her-name. Now this?
I don’t know… I think Jim James meshes pretty great with Ward. His backup vocals on “Magic Trick” and “Fuel For Fire” are pretty great.
Completely true. My issue is with Oberst, to be honest.
your an idiot, Conor is an incredibly talented lyricist.
I love Jim James, and M.Ward is alright, but Conor can write like no one else around.
Jim is my Favorite
Yeah! You’re a fucking fool Ari.. Oberst is the best of them all.. Sure, Ward is great, but Oberst is extremely talented.. If you haven’t noticed, then you need to listen some more..
hey John, don’t make me make you make you take back your insults. Ari ain’t no fool, and Oberst is an annoying voice regardless of his lyrical prowess.
