From 2006 to 2008, photgrapher Lauren Dukoff—a best friend of Devendra Banhart since high school—documented the freak-folk scene’s artists and extended community for the collection Family. The book ($35) includes photos of Banhart and friends Vashti Bunyan, Bat For Lashes, and Andy Cabic of Vetiver. There are a few pictures available as wallpapers here, as well as a few songs from the book’s accompanying soundtrack.

I heard an earlier version of this song, I think it was off of one of the LSTN compilations. I liked the older version better - a bit darker, not so cleaned up, and quite a bit rockier. Check it out and it might change your perception of them for the better.
