Present #2: Radiohead soundboard: Live in Berlin 7/4/00

text: Colin McLaughlin

Present #2 will allow you to relive the glory that is Kid A in the best possible way...through live, crystal clear audio from the era in which it was created. That’s right I’m going to satisfy your never-ending Radiohead fix with the infamous July 4 Berlin show from 2000. The story goes that it was originally going to be released as the band’s first live CD. It even got the mixing treatment from their long-time producer, Nigel Godrich before it was eventually shelved. And when you listen to it, you’ll have no idea why it was put on hold. The sound is amazing, the band is on fire, the setlist choices are superb; I mean they started with Optimistic for Christ sakes! Download it below and you’ll see what I mean. Enjoy.

isn’t it just mindblowing that they would sit on it? I don’t get it. Plus another thing that is cool is they close with Nice Dream, which is a totally unspoken for Radiohead song. The build up and the descent. It’s a good closer and I’ve never seen them do that again. Def. not on the other bootlegs I have. Which I can post sometime if everyone wants me to.

that inescapable feeling you are referring to, is that like when you hear something and you could have sworn you heard it before because of the nostalgic catchy quality? or is is like when you’ve heard a band exactly like said band?

great post by the way!

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words… smile I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.

WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE ! “WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE !  “Picture yourself coasting your bike past space funk palm trees, homeless harpists, vintage video arcades, electronic drum circles, and 60s psychedelic singers who’re waiting for the bus. Cosmogramma is kinda like that if someone suddenly tripped you just as you’re starting to enjoy the ride. But in a good way.””
