Preview: Wild Light headline Great Scott, tour with the Killers

text: Ari Sommer / photos: Ryan Russel

There’s a little feature at the top-right of the main Melophobe page that lists upcoming concerts that we’re excited about. One of those shows is Wild Light‘s headlining gig at Great Scott in Boston. It’s coming up quick. Specifically, it’s coming up on Wednesday, April 8.

Wild Light has had a rags-to-riches year, starting out so small that they told us that they weren’t yet in a position to ask headliners and venues if they could issue all-access passes. But even then, they seemed ready to mount a scrappy insurgency of indie-rock awesomeness. They’ve made steady progress over the last year, and have won us over with a full-throated denunciation of Los Angeles (give a listen with our sexy little mp3 player).

They’ve also consistently moved up the opener-ladder, topping last month’s bill-sharing with Tapes N Tapes with a just-announced tour opening for the Killers. Which ought to increase the number of people they reach all at once considerably.

So if you’re in Boston, and if you’re not going to a Passover Seder or desperately counting down until you can drink bourbon and eat meat again (or whatever “else” you gave up for Lent), trip down to Great Scott. It’ll be better than a poke in the eye. Significantly so.

And purchase the debut album, Adult Nights, while you’re thinking it over.

I’ve read the book ‘Dream Boogie’ the life and time of Sam Cooke’ If the movie is as good as the book, Sam Cooke will get the respect that he has been deserving of for many years.
