Radiohead is going into the studio next month!!!

text: Colin McLaughlin

Ed O’Brien says January is when recording starts and Consequence of Sound has the details:

Now that Thom is done blogging about global warming, Radiohead can move on to what Radiohead does best — being Radiohead. And as Ed O’Brien revealed in a recent blog post (via TFB), the band’s forthcoming itinerary includes plans to hit the studio in January. Yeah, January, as in next month!

“The vibe in the camp is fantastic at present, and we head off into the studio in January to continue on from the work we started last Summer,” wrote O’Brien. “I am so genuinely excited about what we’re doing, but for obvious reasons I can’t divulge anything more… anyway we all love surprises don’t we?”

Details stop there for now, but if we based our assumptions off past evidence (especially the part about still recording albums), those upcoming studio sessions could lead the way to the followup to 2008’s In Rainbows. Then, there’s this little nugget that appeared back in November: Speaking with the The Herald newspaper, a violinist by the name of Richard Milone noted that he had just recently finished recording with the band. Followup emails for comment were never returned, but considering the above statement, perhaps we can assume Milone’s involvement was part of the aforementioned July sessions, which would mean LP #8 could feature some orchestral elements.

For more speculation and conspiracy theories, we suggest you head on over to ateaseweb.com. We’ll update you once any more important pieces of info, which, in the case of Radiohead, means every piece of info, become available.

Radiohead to your liking? You'll sweat:
