Spoon cover Sam Cooke

text: Colin McLaughlin

This probably isn’t new, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a listen.  Here’s Britt and the rest of the boys doing an airy, shaker filled version of the Sam Cooke classic Bring It On Home To Me. It hits all the right spots.  Link found via You Ain’t No Picasso and if you head over there, you’ll find a big MP3 list of Spoon covering other people’s songs.

P.S. If you want to hear the definitive version of the song, listen to this. I know, it makes the cover look silly, but it makes most songs appear that way. He was an unstoppable force.

Well, Brit is no Sam Cooke. But this cover is really quite heartfelt. You’re right - it hits all the right spots!

Glad you liked it. Did you check out any of the other cover songs?

Chopin and Òlafur Arnalds aren’t even really worth a comparison. Their music is nothing alike.

There was definitely a guy surfing in a wheelchair. I tried to capture it with my camera, but it was a total blur. He came over the barricade 3 times. The first time, he came over AFTER his wheelchair.
