The xx remix Florence & The Machine Song

text: Colin McLaughlin

Found this over on Stereogum and it’s really good if you like the xx sound. I don’t want to give it away, just go in blind. Enjoy.

Such a huuuuuge fan of The XX.  They are fresh listening!

Attention Sex Pistols’ fans, Steve Jones’ show Jonesy’s Jukebox is back on the air exclusively on WWW.IAMROGUE.COM.  Check out his interviews with an eclectic range of guests, from Alex Wasser to Billy Corgan to Tobey Maguire, Steve Jones never fails to entertain his audience with offbeat interview techniques!  Also, Steve Jones has been confirmed to appear as musical guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.  Tune into CBS on Monday night at 12:35 AM to catch his guitar riffs that bring you back to your days of British punk!  You’d be bang on not to miss it!!

Another (unofficial) XX remix that I stumbled upon today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApQDo2B5rPk

Heavy and haunting, and a great direction for the track.

@pFranzen: that’s such a good one. I actually put that up a few weeks ago. You can grab the mp3 here (http://www.melophobe.com/news/sick-remix-of-the-xxs-infinity/) if you want it.

The original of this song is actually by Candi Staton, Florence just covers it.

that inescapable feeling you are referring to, is that like when you hear something and you could have sworn you heard it before because of the nostalgic catchy quality? or is is like when you’ve heard a band exactly like said band?

great post by the way!

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words… smile I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.

WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE ! “WHO WROTE THIS...PUKE !  “Picture yourself coasting your bike past space funk palm trees, homeless harpists, vintage video arcades, electronic drum circles, and 60s psychedelic singers who’re waiting for the bus. Cosmogramma is kinda like that if someone suddenly tripped you just as you’re starting to enjoy the ride. But in a good way.””
