I stumbled across this guy last year while out searching for the best mixtapes of 2009. It was July. I know, who does that? I just wanted a status report, sue me. Anyway, Theophilus London had put out a mixtape called This Charming Mixtape, whose cover was a spoof on Elvis Costello’s famous, This Year’s Model cover. I was intrigued enough to give it a listen and what I heard was a mix of electro (for texture), pop (to hook ya), r&b (to smooth the edges), and hip hop (because that’s what he’s all about). It was probably a B+/A- mixtape and it stuck with me.
Fast forward to today. Now, while out searching for anything of value, I stumbled across his new video, called “Humdrum Town,” which I assume is from his first official album. And again, I really like what I hear and I have a feeling you will too. Also, I think this song has the possibility to be a big hit. “Mindkilla” is awesome. I’ve got this music video last week and really impressed through watching every performance particularly “Glass Jar”. Thanks dude. :)
