Did you wake up this morning pining for new Vampire Weekend? Probably not, but I suspect some of you wouldn’t mind some now that I’ve brought it up. Well here it is, a new video for the song “Cousins” off the forthcoming Contra record. If you count Youtube clips of live song performances, I believe this is song 5 off the album that we’ve heard, so enjoy and be just like me and continue to ruin the full album first listen experience. It’s the world we live in I guess.

I’d like to clarify that for this show they cut off the back half of Neumo’s floor with a curtain and had the upstairs bar closed. It made Neumo’s obviously seem much smaller than it is. Unfortunately, now having seen Neumo’s fully open at another show I can say that this show was very empty. Still White Denim and Brazos rocked.

I agree, it’s very good. Way to deflate their balloon.

Love the photos. And that “Walkabout” song is the drugs.

i wish i’d checked out this post earlier. i’ve heard this song on the radio a few times and hated every single instance, each time more than the last. now i know who to blame. i like vampire weekend, but man does this song suck. it sounds like the jumpy alterna-pop that was on the radio in the late 90s. and the lyrics are dumb.
now that I have a baby at home, Vampire Weekend is surprisingly more listenable when dancing with my daughter. Well, as long as I earmuff that whole “do you wanna f*ck” bit…
oh noes, josh! I love this. what’s jumpy alterna-pop - like harvey danger?
