Vibe calling it quits

text: matt carr

According to multiple sources, Vibe magazine is calling it quits. Although no official statement has been made yet by the company, Rap Radar obtained a letter from CEO Steve Aaron to the rest of the staff: “It is with a heavy heart that I share some tough news, VMG is closing down effective today, June 30th.” Aaron goes on to list a few reasons for the magazine’s demise, including the collapse of the capitals markets, a lack of substantial print advertising, and that all of Vibe’s digital growth initiatives have been stalled by the economic situation. Apparently the above cover with the Dream and Christina Milian will be the last. And it might not even make it to the newsstand.

Chopin and Òlafur Arnalds aren’t even really worth a comparison. Their music is nothing alike.

There was definitely a guy surfing in a wheelchair. I tried to capture it with my camera, but it was a total blur. He came over the barricade 3 times. The first time, he came over AFTER his wheelchair.
