One of the albums that is sure to be on any self respecting hip hop fan’s decade list is Jay Z’s The Blueprint. Arguably it’s a perfect album and “Renegade” is one of the reasons why. After listening to it today I went looking for a live clip, but found a rapper named Boogalu “freestyling” over the beat instead. Freestyling is in quotes because it’s obviously written, but that’s besides the point. What’s important is that it’s really good (and a bit profane for the puritans out there). Check it out.

Ugh. Paste’s profile of Free Energy made me kind of hate them. So does your review. It’s this unctuous defense of good-time rock-and-roll ("we’re just here to party, and we’re awesome!") that seems more self-serving than fun-loving.

no prob. The whole album is excellent, combining some of the harder sonics of Los Angeles with the meat of his debut and obviously difficult to summarize in only 50 words… 
I’d say it’s on par with the debut, but better than Los Angeles.

need to listen to this. but i’ve always liked the original version of “renegade” (with royce) better than the one on blueprint.
